New Media Age - Effectiveness Awards 2009 Awards shortlist boost for 13strides

The newmediaage Effectiveness Awards 2009 showcase the UK’s best digital marketing platforms – and 13strides is thrilled to have made the shortlist in the Sport category for our work on the Great Run website.

13strides is delighted to have been shortlisted in newmediaage magazine’s Effectiveness Awards 2009, which showcase the UK’s best digital marketing platforms.

Our work for the Nova International Great Run Website 09, which was aided and supported by fellow agency AP16 as well as the organisers of the Great Run series Nova International, made the shorlist in the Sport category.

The Awards dinner at the prestigious Grosvenor House on London’s Park Lane, hosted by Irish comedian Dara O’Briain, was a glittering occasion attended by the cream of the industry’s digital innovators.

It was great to be in the company of such global brands as the BBC, Nike, British Airways, Sony Ericsson, Walt Disney and Honda – the Awards’ put a big emphasis on effectiveness, which allows smaller companies to compete on an equal footing with larger ones.

The Awards also aim to demonstrate and promote the quality of new media usage in the UK; to act as an incentive to the new media industry to create world-class businesses; to provide a benchmark of excellence from which the industry can learn and from which it can build; to show the importance of usability and accessibility in building an effective online presence; and to demonstrate the power of digital media to the wider business world.

Michael Nutley, Editor-in-Chief of newmediaage, said: “Every year since 1997, the new media age Effectiveness Awards have put out the call for the best work in interactive media; the work that has delivered the most impressive results and the best return on investment. Increasingly, the winners have been those companies and agencies that have shown they can embrace new platforms and new thinking to deliver those business benefits.

“There’s an ever-higher premium on innovation, both as a way of cutting through the noise and of keeping up with consumers. Those companies that don’t innovate, risk irrelevance as their competitors develop understanding and attract customers.”

13strides director Anthony Borsumato said: “We’re just thrilled to have been part of such a huge event, especially as many of the other companies there were such big hitters with massive resources.

“It was a great night and as a relatively new company it was brilliant to take our place alongside some of the biggest and most established names in the field.

“But we’re proud of the work we do and believe in an approach that is both client-focused and end-user friendly. We’ve been working with Nova International for a year now and the launch of the new Great Run series website helped stimulate huge increases in entry numbers across all events, which is tangible confirmation of the effectiveness of the site.”
